Looking to Re-Home Your Pet?

  • Every day, FLUFF Animal Rescue receives several inquiries from people asking if we can take their dog (or a dog they found) into our rescue. There are many reasons why people want to re-home their dog (moving, owner has become ill, financial needs, etc.)

  • Unfortunately, we almost always have to say “I’m sorry, but we cannot help at this time,” and here’s why. FLUFF Animal Rescue is a foster-based rescue, which means we do not have a facility where we house our rescue dogs – all reside in private homes. As with most rescues, our foster homes stay full and the minute a space opens up, we have at least 5 dogs or cats waiting to get in. Since our mission is to save dogs who are at high risk for euthanasia in shelters, those dogs get priority when space becomes available.

  • However, there are certain instances where we are able to take in “private” dogs – that is – dogs who are not in shelters but need to be re-homed.

  • If you would like to apply to have your dog or cat taken into our rescue, please complete the following application as honestly and completely as you can. The information you provide will be reviewed so we can determine if we are able to help. There are no right or wrong answers; your responses will simply help us fully understand the situation.

  • NOTE: We do not take in stray animals who have not gone through the legal stray hold. The best thing to do with an animal you find is to take it to your county shelter – that gives it the best chance at being reunited with its owner. If you apply to surrender your animal, you will be required to sign the following document stating that you have the legal right to do so.

  • We will review your application as soon as reasonably possible. If we determine that we are not able to help, we will let you know right away. If we feel we might be able to help, we will contact you to schedule a time to meet the dog/cat (we do not approve any owner surrender applications prior to meeting the animal).

  • Please understand that the process takes time – we are a volunteer-run group but we do our very best to save as many animals as possible. If your situation is an emergency and you need the dog gone immediately, the only option may be your county shelter. Yes, the local shelters are ALL kill shelters but most do their best to find homes for the dogs and cats they take in.

If you still want to surrender your pet, please consider the Adopt-A-Pet Rehome site below, as we are an all foster-based rescue with limited intake resources.  Be sure to review our Owner Surrender Statement before contacting us to surrender your pet, as there are several considerations to be made before our rescue is able to help.
