Kimmy Chandler

Founder/President

Kimmy Chandler, Founder of FLUFF Animal Rescue began saving lives at an early age.  “Finding homes for unwanted and abandoned animals has always been a passion,” says Chandler.  Since the age of 15, Kimmy has been a teacher to students of all ages-both inside and out of the classroom and has been caring for stray and resident animals as a display of her belief that “It is our job to care for God’s creatures”.  In 2016, Chandler was able to realize her full potential as a teacher and animal rescuer, and during an afternoon luncheon with her immediate family, a new community non-profit rescue was born.  Then 6-yr-old daughter, Alex coined the name “FLUFF”, and both Alex and the rescue have grown substantially over the past 5 years.  “We have seen many faces come and go since our inception, but I am confident with a solid team of animal lovers by my side, the animals will always win”.

Board of Directors/Consultant

Throughout my lifetime I knew animals were my calling. After spending childhood on my grandparents' ranch in Oregon and volunteering most of my upbringing at a local animal hospital, my answer to the age-old question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" was veterinarian. I quickly realized that I had a deep connection with animals.  Dogs that no one else could handle trusted me to carry them through necessary procedures.

Post high school, my passion for animals was placed on hold as I set out on a brand-new adventure with the US Coast Guard with plans of utilizing my other passion of photography. As fate would have it, not long after bootcamp and at my first unit, I received an injury that changed my life and still plays a huge role almost a decade later.  During some of the lowest times in my life, I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with Station Mascot, Gibbet-now known as Petty Officer First Class Retired Gibbet! She proved to be a turning point in my life. Being at a Search and Rescue Unit we witness some of the most tragic days in people's life, as we tirelessly worked to save missing loved ones. Gibbet was a single ray of sunshine on those dark days. She knew exactly how to steal a smile from someone fighting through their tears. Gibbet was the one that brought back my passion for animals.  As I turned my attention to service animal work, I started volunteering with an organization that trained service dogs! The work and training I received lit a fire within that could not be satiated! Shortly after, while attending college, I began my life-changing career as a Professional Dog Trainer.  Diving into everything dog-books, podcasts, audiobooks, forums, anything I could get my hands on- and years later, being able to work under many amazing trainers, ReviveK9 was born!  Currently, I am the CEO and founder of Revive K9, a professional training facility in Pensacola.

Debbie Houk

Rescue Manager

I have been an animal lover since I was a child. I have always been an advocate of adoption and shelter pets. When I heard about Fluff Animal Rescue I knew I had to get involved.
The day I pulled into the parking lot of Fluff I felt a stirring in my heart and knew I was on the right path. After meeting Kimmy and witnessing her love and devotion to the animals , I knew I needed to be more involved.
I have been a hairdresser for 30 yrs. I decided it was time for a change, how can I use my skills to help the animals? Grooming!!!! So I quit my hairdressing job and went to grooming school. Now I can help our rescues by grooming them and work on all of my lovely doggie clients as well.

In addition to being able to help out on the rescue side of things, my organizational and people skills led me to a management position with FLUFF.  You will see me on the retail sales floor doing whatever it takes to raise much needed funds for the animals!
My motto has always been ,”Be the change you want to see in the world” and I feel kindness to animals is definitely a change I want to see.  I am so blessed to be a full-time part of the FLUFF team!
